EDITOR'S REVIEW
HAPPY OBSERVATION: Tested 1 p.m. Monday. SOCIAL SYNTHESIS: Three suits, three backward hats and a hipster couple in the lounge, run of the mill for lunch in the dining room. SUSTENANCE: Two tacos for $2.79, half flatbreads and quesadillas $4 and happy hour snacks $4-$5.79 LIBATION: “Tradicional” margaritas $5, wells $4, Mexican drafts $2.79, house wine $4 KILLER COMPOUND: Dos Equis draft and their Mexi Mac & Cheese — think large dish of spicy hamburger casserole with elbow macaroni rather than plastic tasting squares of mac and cheese. WARNING LABEL: There’s a steady stream of Monday afternoon boozeheads in and out of the next door liquor store taking up parking. ROCKOLOGY: Yes, those daydreams about a shipwreck involving a Caribbean island and Orlando Bloom certainly help make the day go by faster — but when you arrive back in reality you’re still seated in front of the same computer in the same pair of Dockers. Unfortunately, there’s nothing the Weekly Volcano can do to get you on a plane to Barbados, but Masa can at least offer a Monday afternoon beach shack dream with its metal walls, roll-up garage doors, colorful murals and reggae music pumping through the lounge.
